Pink Palace

$300.00

This piece started as a simple embroidery demo for my fibers students—just some sashiko stitches on denim, followed by a few French knots. But like most of my projects, it quickly took on a life of its own.

At some point, while zoning out in my bathroom (as one does), I locked eyes with a snake plant in a piece of art and suddenly knew my embroidery needed to become a planter. So I dyed a background using ice dye techniques, stitched up a bold little plant, and started thinking about a frame.

Enter: my embroidery machine, a fun raccoon print gifted by a coworker, and a happy accident. While stitching a nighttime sky frame, my machine decided to get creative, leaving a mysterious white spot where only the bobbin thread showed. Instead of fighting it, I embraced the chaos and slapped on a dinosaur patch—because why not? A few more sashiko stitches later, everything started coming together.

It’s a bit of an adventure, a bit of a patchwork story, and entirely one-of-a-kind. If you love pieces that evolve organically and have a sense of humor, this one’s for you.
